The painting. Nectar grows upwards. Plant-like forms rise from the bottom of a pale cream and white ground, with a green leaf shape at the centre, a yellow-green bud near the top right, violet marks and a pink haze drifting across the upper part. Thin drawn lines and drips run through the surface, so it feels like a botanical study caught halfway between drawing and painting.

Where it works. Its light, fresh palette suits a bedroom, a kitchen or a bright living room. It sits well with plants, pale wood, linen and white or sage walls, and it's a good alternative to a botanical print for anyone who wants something looser and more personal.

Choosing a size. The true-scale size guide (the last photo on this page) shows a range of sizes above a large sofa, with a person for reference. The 4:5 shape is only slightly taller than wide, so it hangs comfortably above furniture. A mid-to-large size works above a double bed or a smaller sofa, while the largest holds a large wall.
