Choosing a size? See our guide: What size art over a 78–84 inch sofa, shown to scale.
The painting. Scaffold sets heavy against light. Thick black brush marks crowd along the top of a white ground, and below them tangled graphite lines build up like a framework. Patches of pink and pale blue sit in the middle, with small marks of yellow, orange and deep purple scattered through. The result is energetic, but there's plenty of white space to let it breathe.
Where it works. Its mix of bold black and soft pastel suits a modern living room, an office or a study, especially one with white walls and black or wood furniture. The pale blue and pink tie in easily with textiles, so it also works in a calm bedroom.
Choosing a size. The true-scale size guide (the last photo on this page) shows a range of sizes above a large sofa, with a person for reference. The black at the top gives the painting a strong upper edge, so it holds a tall wall well: a large size suits a narrow wall or a space between windows. Above a desk, a smaller size is enough. Above a sofa, choose the largest size, keeping in mind that it is tall, so check its measurements in the size options against your ceiling height.
Format. A portrait canvas in a 2:3 shape, from a small accent size up to a statement piece.
